What is Street Outreach?
Street Outreach is a proactive effort to connect with individuals who are living unsheltered—on the streets, in encampments, in vehicles, or other places not meant for human habitation. Our outreach teams meet people where they are, build trust, and help connect them to essential services like shelter, healthcare, and housing support.
Street Outreach is:
-
Person-centered and relationship-based
-
Focused on long-term stability and housing
-
Designed to meet people in unsheltered locations
-
A link to resources, not a replacement for emergency services
Street Outreach is not:
-
A housing program or emergency shelter
-
A one-time service or crisis intervention team
-
Law enforcement or code enforcement
-
A substitute for Coordinated Entry
Coordinated Entry: Your First Step Toward Help
If you are currently experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing your housing, Coordinated Entry is your access point to homeless services and prevention resources in Mecklenburg County.
Call 704-284-9665 and leave a message.
A staff member will return your call Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Please contact Coordinated Entry if you are:
-
Staying in a hotel or motel and are at risk of losing your room
-
Couch surfing or temporarily staying with friends or family
-
Facing eviction or displacement and need support to prevent homelessness
If You Are Currently Unsheltered
